why i hate microsoft
i think a lot of people out there are haters just for the sake of hating. sure, microsoft is the man and shit, they are ‘not nice’ and use ‘unsavory’ business practices, are ‘kind of evil’, etc. but i aint in it on principal. i hate microsoft because every single experience i have using a microsoft designed, inspired or branded ultimately leaves me with the strong urge to commit large-scale violence.
i realize developing for the web puts me more at odds with m$ blunders than most, but i busted out powerpoint today, which i’ve never used all that much (probably because it sucks), in order to put a client’s presentation onto the web. i’m going to gloss over the shitty html that ppt generates…ok, no i wont. someone explain to me why the hell a presentation with 45 slides generates a folder “for the web” that has 475 files in it? WTF!? especially when “save for web” really just means “take a busted-ass .gif screenshot of every slide (which provides as much functionality as a poopy flavored lollipop) and stick it in some circa 1991-public-library-homepage-looking frameset bullshit”. bill, why can’t you just be straight up with us? o no way man, no way would i want those weblinks from powerpoint to actually work when i put this thing on the web! wait a minute—i see…it just generates some retarded javascript that makes the semi-functional version only work in ie! isn’t this office for mac, dickheads?
i just dont need this negativity in my life, man. shit’s toxic.
